10 Hidden Indie Gems in the 2020 Steam Summer Sale | TE
The Steam Summer Sale 2020 started a couple of days ago, and it's got some great deals (as it always does). The huge number of games on sale and the deep discounts on them can be overwhelming, and since I cover indie games, I figured I'd help with that. So here 10 hidden indie gems in the 2020 Steam Summer Sale. I already did a video on 20 hidden gems in last year's sale, and most of those games are in this sale too. But even that, that was only scratching the surface.

Death and Taxes Review - Become the Reaper | TE
Death and Taxes is a narrative adventure game in which you play the Grim Reaper. Inspired by Papers, Please, this game has a lot going on, especially behind the scenes. In my review, I look to whether these taxes are paid, or if the game needs its own Grim Reaper.
Chroma Squad's Level Editor Offers Very Little | TE
Chroma Squad is a tactical turn-based RPG inspired by the Power Rangers. It's one of my favorite indie games ever, but this level editor leaves a lot to be desired.
Mutant Year Zero Review: Furry's Delight | TE
Mutant Year Zero: Road to Eden is a video game based on the tabletop game Mutant Year Zero, which itself is based on the classic game Mutant. Created in Sweden, the series is about mutated humans and animals trying to survive in a post-apocalyptic world. In this video, I review 2018's Mutant Year Zero: Road to Eden, a turn-based tactical RPG video game with some unique ideas, like stealth combat. But does the final game live up to its ambitions?

13 Indie Games That Were Canceled | TE
This week's video is a dive into the past - both my own and in indie gaming. I take a look at an old Cliqist video of mine, and go over 13 canceled indie games.
PlayJam's GameStick - The Other Failed Kickstarter Console | TE
The PlayJam GameStick is a failed microconsole that, aside from a marginally successful Kickstarter campaign, gained no traction whatsoever. If it weren't for the Ouya, the GameStick might be seen as the biggest failed Kickstarter console ever, but it doesn't even have that to its name. Instead, it and PlayJam are both forgotten. Why? Let's find out!
Shantae - A History of the Dancing Half-Genie | TE
Shantae is one of the biggest indie game franchises out there. Created by Wayfoward, there are now five Shantae games, a successful Kickstarter, two canceled games, and countless other appearances by the half-genie hero.
Star Citizen - Another Year of Failure | TE
Star Citizen has had a long, disastrous development cycle. April 2019 to April 2020 perfectly encapsulates everything wrong with Star Citizen's development, and developer Cloud Imperium's approach to it. Let take a look at what happened during this time, and see just why this game is such a mess.

The first video of #TEBirthdayBash is a deeper look at some of my favorite games from last week's Wholesome Direct, including a brief interview with a developer involved!
Mother-Inspired RPG Rose of Starcross on Kickstarter | TE
Rose of Starcross is a Mother-inspired (also inspired by a whole lot of other stuff) RPG about a young girl who pulls a rock out of a sword. Wait, I think I have that backward? 👉 Rose of Starcross Kickstarter: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/roseofstarcross/rose-of-starcross 👉 Rose of Starcross Demo: https://peytonburnham.itch.io/rose-of-starcross-demo
The Truth About Video Games on Kickstarter | TE
ICO Partners, a marketing analytics firm, released posted data about how games perform on Kickstarter - both tabletop and video games. I wanted to dive into this data to confirm some theories I had about the site a few years ago, and what I found surprised me. Long story short, while the amount of money raised by video games on Kickstarter has dropped significantly in recent years, the truth is that more projects are succeeding now than ever. It's just that there are a lot of smaller campaigns that are earning less money (and headlines).
